Club Campestre San José is a gated, master-planned golf community of more than 550 acres in the hills directly behind San José del Cabo. It is about five minutes from downtown San José and fifteen from Los Cabos International Airport. Its 18-hole, par-71 course by Nicklaus Design opened in 2007, and homeowners can join a private 32,000-square-foot beach club on the Sea of Cortez. As of September 2026 our inventory lists 90 properties there: 36 condos from USD $534,837 to $2,395,000, 29 homes from $650,000 to $3,200,000 and 25 lots from $225,000 to $3,400,000.

Most of what sells in Los Cabos is sold by its distance to the water. Club Campestre is sold by something else: the view back toward it. The community sits on the hills behind San José del Cabo, and from most of its streets you look down across fairways and rooftops to the Sea of Cortez. You give up the sand at your door. In exchange you get elevation, quiet, and a town five minutes away.

That trade is the whole story of Club Campestre, and it is worth understanding before you look at a single listing.

Questro Golf, which operates the course, puts the community about fifteen minutes from Los Cabos International Airport and five from downtown San José del Cabo. In practice that means the historic center, the marina at Puerto Los Cabos and the grocery run are errands, not outings. For a buyer who plans to spend real time here rather than a week at Christmas, that proximity changes daily life more than any amenity list.

The master plan covers more than 550 acres and was developed by Grupo Questro, the same group behind Puerto Los Cabos and Cabo Real. It is gated, laid out in low-density neighborhoods — Cora, Costarena, La Cañada, La Cima, Los Valles, Montecitos, Pueblo Campestre, Solesta, Vista Hermosa and Vista Lagos among them — and mixes condominiums, townhomes, fairway villas and single-family homes.

The golf course runs through the center of the community. It is an 18-hole, par-71 layout by Nicklaus Design that opened in 2007 and plays to 6,966 yards from the back tees, grassed wall to wall in Paspalum SeaIsle 1, a salt-tolerant turf suited to the desert. The hole people talk about is the par-5 seventh, a double dogleg that finishes on a peninsula green ringed by bunkers.

Here is the detail that matters for a buyer: this is not a members-only course. Questro describes it as a resort course where the public is welcome, subject to availability. If you want a private club where every tee time belongs to members, that is a different community and a different price bracket. If you want a good course you can walk to from your front door, without the obligations of an equity club, Club Campestre makes sense.

The community's answer to its inland position is a 32,000-square-foot private beach club on the Sea of Cortez, near the Zippers surf break. It has an infinity-edge pool, a wading pool for small children, a Jacuzzi, beach volleyball, shore fishing, a putting green, a restaurant with poolside service, spa services and a schedule of yoga and Pilates classes. According to the club, beach and social memberships are available only to Club Campestre homeowners. Ask for the current membership terms before you make an offer, because they are set by the club and can change.

Condominiums are the larger group: 36 listings, from USD $534,837 to $2,395,000. At the upper end are four- and five-bedroom residences in Los Valles and on Monte Bello; newer buildings such as LARENA, Wen Living and the Cora phases account for several listings in the middle of the range.

Homes number 29, from $650,000 to $3,200,000. Several of the higher-priced homes are up in La Cima, and Los Valles has a good share of the rest. Some listings are pre-construction, sold from plans and renderings, which means a longer wait and a closer look at the developer's track record and delivery schedule.

If you would rather build, there are 25 lots, from $225,000 to $3,400,000. Most of the entry-level lots are in Vista Hermosa; Vista Lagos, La Cima and La Cañada hold the mid-range, and at the top sits a single parcel of more than 50,000 square feet in Montecitos.

It suits golfers who want to play often without joining a private club, families who want a house they can live in for months at a time, and buyers who would rather have space, a view and a short drive to town than a beachfront address. It is less suited to someone who wants to step out of the living room onto the sand, or who needs a members-only course.

Club Campestre lies within Mexico's restricted zone, so as a foreign buyer you would hold the property through a bank trust, the fideicomiso, or through a Mexican corporation.
