About Pedregal

Pedregal de Cabo San Lucas occupies the granite headland that rises between the town’s marina and the open Pacific, at the southern tip of the Baja peninsula. Begun in the early 1970s and with its first houses completed in 1975, it was the first gated residential community in Los Cabos, and it still covers roughly 360 acres of terraced hillside. It is entered through the Dos Mares tunnel, a private bore of about 300 metres cut through the mountain from the marina side and described as the only privately owned tunnel in Mexico.

Access is controlled at guarded gates around the clock, with private patrols inside. Roads climb in switchbacks past villas, larger estates, a small number of condominium buildings and a residual supply of home sites, most of the community now built out. Views split by position: parcels on the ocean face look out over open Pacific water and sunset, while those on the inner slope take in the bay, the marina and the Arch. The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal sits within the community, on the shoreline at the base of the hill.

The community has its own beach at the foot of the hill, used for walking and, from December to mid-April, for watching the whale migration pass offshore; swimming there is not advised because of Pacific currents. For water, residents head to Médano Beach or Playa del Amor, both close by. Restaurants, galleries, the sportfishing docks and the marina are minutes from the tunnel mouth, and walkable from the lower streets. Pedregal suits buyers who want a town address with real privacy, and who value an established location over a new master plan.
